A wonderful Day at the Temple

Yesterday we went to the Newport Beach Temple to seal Dan's parents to their parents, seal Dan's parents to each other, and seal Dan to his parents.  It was a wonderful spiritual experience.  Emily and Brian did the baptisms and confirmations in the Seattle, Washington Temple.  Dan and I performed the additional ordanices in Newport Beach Temple.  Kevin, Bob, and Jenny were able to be at the sealings in the Newport Beach Temple.  Kevin represented Gpa Bob  when he was sealed to his parents, Jenny represented  Gma Marty as she was sealed to her parents.  Dan and I represented his parents as they were sealed together for time and all eternity.  Bob and Jenny represented Dan's parents as he was sealed to them.  It was awesome to have our family there to do these ordinances for them.  For those that read this and do not understand, in our church we believe that we can be families forever, not just "til death do you part".  When loved ones have passed on and not joined the LDS Church, and have not had these ordinances done, we can do the ordinances in their names. They have the choice in the next life to accept them or not.

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way Home......

We left Salem early Thursday morning, not looking forward to the long drive but looking forward to sleeping in our own bed tonight.  We were about 25 miles north of Grant's Pass when we were attacked by a LARGE Bird!  (Some kind of bird of prey.)  It broke the grill on the front of the car and embedded itself in the radiator after breaking the condenser.  UNBELIEVABLE!  Dan pulled what was left of the bird out of the radiator to see the damage.  We had to be towed into Grant's Pass and get a hotel room for the night.  The mechanic can't get the new radiator until Friday morning.  We should be on the road home by noon Friday.  Please! Please! Please!  Once we get home, we will get the rest of the car fixed.  We were so dumbfounded by the incident, we didn't take pictures until we reached the garage.  The part of the bird still on the lower grill is the head. Poor bird.  He may have won the battle but we win the war.

We are on our way home...

We left Emily's home on monday with lots of hugs and tears.  We had a great time with  them and look forward to seeing them in August.  We went to Paul and Marsha's to spend a couple of days with them.  Their new home in Puyallup is lovely.  Austin is a cute little boy.  He is always smiling.  We had a lot of fun with them.  It is still raining here in Washington.  The sun came out on wednesday when we were leaving, though it only lasted until we reached Oregon and then clouds again.  We stopped in Salem, Oregon to see Debbie's sister Tina and her family.  We had a lovely visit.  We went out to dinner and then back to their home to talk.  We could have talked for hours but they had to work on Thursday AM and we had a long trip home so after more hugs and tears, we left to get some sleep and then HOME!  The pictures are of Jack and Austin playing.  Aren't they cute?!

Kate's Blessing

On Sunday, January16th, 2011, Kate was given a name and a blessing by her father in church. She looked beautiful in her long white dress.  Brian gave a beautiful blessing which Papa was able to record on his iphone.  (Isn't technology wonderful?).

It is cold in Washington!

We are in Washington visiting Brian and Emily and their kids.  It is cold here.  The temp is 36 and it is suppose to snow.  It is hard to for Dan to play golf in the cold and snow.  Jack is a very active 2 year old.  He is either moving a mile a minute or wanting to eat.  He wears me out.  He likes his papa, always wanting to know where he is if he isn't within view.  Kate our newest grandchild is beautiful.  She has already changed and gotten bigger in the week we have been here. I could hold her for hours but then she would get "holditis" and that would not be good for Em after we leave.  Em is doing much better now,(she had a bad wound infection from the C-section).  Thank goodness for aintibiotics.  Brian has to go back to work tomorrow.  He has been off since Kate's birth on December 17th.  He likes being home and is not looking forward to going back.
