OCMCO Choir

On April 30th, the choir I sing with performed at the Orange County Performing Arts Center.  We performed Messiah in America, an original oratorio writen by Brett Stewart( our conductor).  The text is straight out of 3rd Nephi in the Book of Morman and tells the story of the people living in the Americas at the time of Christ.  It was a lot of hard work and a lot of fun.  The first week of June, we travel to Salt Lake City, Utah to record this great oratorio and to perform in the Morman Tabernacle on Temple square.  I am looking forward to this.  I was able to sing in the Tabernacle once years ago and it was a great experience.  Dan, Kevin, Bob, and Emily were all able to come to the performance.  I know it wasn't my son's cup of tea but I've set through enough of their things that I thought it was ok for them to come and get some culture!  They actually liked it.  Em flew down with the 2 kids so she coud go.  We had a nice visit with her and wished that Brian could have come too.

Postcards from the Central Coast

Last week, Dan and I took a trip up to our friends Barb and Jim Cutshaw.  They live in Arroyo Grande.  We took  a couple of drives around the country side.  The wild flowers were just begining to bloom.  There will be lots more color in another week.  We also took a hike along the coast of Morro Bay.  The California coast is one of the prettiest places on earth.  We had realy nice weather, only 1 day of overcast gloom and fog.  The rest of the days were cool but sunny.  thanks Barb and Jim for a great time.

March Brings....

March is here and with it came many things.  Baseball has started.  Drew, Bobby, Matt, and Alex are all playing baseball.  It seems like there is always a game or practice somewhere.  Then there are the birthdays.  Jack turned 3 on March 8th.  He had a superman party.  It looked like fun.  Next Andrew was born on March 10th.(Congratulations to the Hunter Family on their new addition.)  He is a beautiful little boy, weighing in at 7#2oz and is 19.5 inches tall.  On March 11th we celebrated Matt and Alex's 4th birthday.  They had their birthday party with old friends from Lake Elsinore at the chick filet.(It's what they wanted.)  Then on March 18th it will be Austin's 2nd birthday.  And if that wasn't enough for March, on March 16th it was Gma and Gpa Schultz's 58th anniversary, and Dan Baguley's birthday. Whew!  We are blessed to have such a wonderful family.

Today is St Patrick's Day.  We got up to green water in the toilets, green milk, toys out of place, missing items from the pantry.  Those pesky leprachans had been here and were trying to stir up trouble.  The kids loved it.

Golf is Great

In case you didn't know, Dan loves to play golf!  Everyday rain or shine he is out on the links chasing the little white ball.  Dan  had never played Pelican Hills Golf course.  He and his good friend Chuck Thomas got to play it this past week.  They had a great time and the weather was wonderful.  The pictures are on the golf course.

Life goes so fast!

Suddenly it is the last day of February.  Where did the month go?  We did nothing exciting.  We didn't go anywhere.  What did we do?  Our den is finally carpeted and painted.   It looks nice. We now need the window replaced and then a new shutter for the window.  Bob and Jenny and the boys went to Big Bear for Presidents day weekend.  Kevin and Kim and their kids went to Arrowhead the same weekend.  There was lots of snow.   We stayed home and enjoyed the quiet.
I heard a song on the radio ther other day that has a great line.  I am trying to remember to live my life this way.  I need lots of help!  I get caught up in the breathing and not the moments.    The line is "Life isn't the breaths you take, but the moments that take your breath away.  Below is a picture of Bobby ready to snowboard.  See the smile on his face?  That is one of those moments that take your beath away.  May we all have more of those moments.

Surgery is not fun...

This past week I had right shoulder surgery.  I had some bone spurs and calcium deposits that were causing me much discomfort and a small tear in the rotator cuff repaired.  It was good that the damage wasn't  as bad as the left shoulder.  (I had it repaired 2 1/2 years ago)  The problem is  I'm right handed.  Do you know how hard it is to put contacts in your eyes, put on masquera, or even brush your teeth and hair with your left hand?  I am not very good at it.  I keep tryng to use my right arm and this causes me pain.  Getting ready for church tomorrow is not going to be fun.  I really don't want Dan to do my hair, but I may be desperate.

A wonderful Day at the Temple

Yesterday we went to the Newport Beach Temple to seal Dan's parents to their parents, seal Dan's parents to each other, and seal Dan to his parents.  It was a wonderful spiritual experience.  Emily and Brian did the baptisms and confirmations in the Seattle, Washington Temple.  Dan and I performed the additional ordanices in Newport Beach Temple.  Kevin, Bob, and Jenny were able to be at the sealings in the Newport Beach Temple.  Kevin represented Gpa Bob  when he was sealed to his parents, Jenny represented  Gma Marty as she was sealed to her parents.  Dan and I represented his parents as they were sealed together for time and all eternity.  Bob and Jenny represented Dan's parents as he was sealed to them.  It was awesome to have our family there to do these ordinances for them.  For those that read this and do not understand, in our church we believe that we can be families forever, not just "til death do you part".  When loved ones have passed on and not joined the LDS Church, and have not had these ordinances done, we can do the ordinances in their names. They have the choice in the next life to accept them or not.
